Battle of the Firms is a fun-filled event to engage our design community in a little friendly competition through field day activities. This year we will continue to use the event to help educate and support Interior Design Advocacy in the state of Florida. A portion of our proceeds will go to the chapter’s Advocacy fund. 


IIDA advocates for the advancement in design excellence, legislation, leadership, accreditation, and community outreach to increase the value and understanding of interior design. We are strong advocates for the registration and certification of practicing interior designers who work in a code-impacted environment. 

Team & Sponsor pairings will be announced at our Team Match Event on September 5

Local Architecture, Construction, Design, and Engineering firms along with Dealerships and Rep Groups are implored to enter teams of 7 people. Those firms with fewer employees are encouraged to partner with other firms. Minimum 2 women are required per team. 

All games will be announced on September 5 at our Team Match Event.

Teams will compete in 8 competitions over the course of the day, consisting of (3) scheduled relays, and (5) scramble games events. Each game station will have a copy of the rules and a Game Official to explain those rules, participation requirements, and to take your score.

  • TEAM QUALIFICATIONS: Local Architecture, Construction, Design, and Engineering firms along with Dealerships and Rep Groups are implored to enter teams of 7 people. Those firms with fewer employees are encouraged to partner with other firms. 2 women are required per team.

    TEAM CHECK-IN: Team Captains need to visit the registration check-in tent to pick up the teams playing schedule and rosters. Check-in will begin at 10:15am , and all teams must be checked in by 10:45am. T

    TEAM T-SHIRTS/WHAT TO WEAR: Each team will receive a T-Shirt in their designated team color to wear to the event. Teams are encouraged to show their team spirit by adding accessories or personalizing their shirts. We will be awarding prizes for Team Spirit/Best Costumes at the Awards Ceremony at the end of the event. It’s October but it still may be hot out! Don’t forget your Sunscreen, Sneakers (no cleats allowed), Shorts are recommended.

    TEAM FOOD/BEVERAGE: Food will be provided as well as refreshments throughout the day.

  • After registration closes we will pair teams/partial teams/individuals with a dealership/rep group/sales rep.

    Teams will be announced at the Team Sponsor Matchup Event on September 5, 2024 at TBD from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

    This is a closed event for just teams and team sponsors.

    We will reach out to team captains with more details after registration closes.

  • OVERALL

    Teams will compete in 8 competitions over the course of the day, consisting of (3) scheduled relays, and (5) scramble games events. Each game station will have a copy of the rules and a Game Official to explain those rules, participation requirements, and to take your score.

    SCHEDULED RELAYS

    Each team will compete in (5) scheduled relay events. In these events, your team score is ranked against every other team participating in the event.

    SCRAMBLE GAMES

    Teams will compete in (3) scramble-style games. Scramble games can be points-based challenges involving just one team, or a head-to-head matchup with another team.

  • Battle of the Firms Champion

    The team with the most points at the end of the day will take home the Battle of the Firms title and trophy. Prizes include sponsored swag bags and other prizes!  


    Team Spirit

    The team with the most spirited with the best costumes will receive the Team Spirit award! This award will be given to the team voted most spirited by the event volunteers and staff. Prizes include sponsored swag bags and other prizes! 

  • Check In: 10:15am

    Games Begin: 10:45am 

    Games Conclude: 2:30pm 

    Awards Ceremony: 3:00 pm

  • YES, with a purchase of a spectator ticket friends & family will be allowed to attend. There will be a Kidz Corner with fun-filled activities.
